Claims deadline extended for Huronia, Rideau and Southwestern Regional Centre

The claims deadline has been extended from August 5 to November 30th. for the Huronia, Rideau and Southwestern Regional Centre class actions.  The Huronia update was just posted here and you will find similar updates for Rideau and Southwestern also.

Brother as caregiver


“I thought I was grown up, but this is a whole new world for me,” explains 35-year old Eugene La. After losing his mother, Grace Yang-Sim in a car accident last November, Eugene became the sole caregiver to his 29 year-old brother, David, who has Down syndrome.

Young boy with Intellectual Disability’s bike loss turned around by officers at Toronto’s 23 Division

Over this past weekend on May 10th it was reported that an 11-year-old boy living with an Intellectual Disability had his bicycle stolen, during a visit to a local library in the community.  This story has a positive outcome to the incident; Officers at 23 Division donated a bike to the boy (pictured below) acknowledging the hardship this theft had caused him and his family.
